TECHNOMANCER - ILLUSTRATED NOVEL 2023
ROLE: Illustrator
Sins & cyborgs, magic & mystery, vices without virtue, and hell without the hope of heaven...
In collaboration with author M.K. Gibson, I illustrated 39 pieces for his illustrated novel.
![]() Chapter 3: A VINYL STRING BIKINI AND BOOTY SHORTSI lit a smoke and let my brain ramble a bit, taking in what I saw of the man. His thick black robes were actually an ancient cassock. The bracelet he wore on his right wrist was made of aged bone, as was the belt he wore. Again I was brought back to his eyes; they were deep with old knowledge. All signs pointed to his agelessness... | ![]() Chapter 5: A CENTURY OF RE-RUNS SUCKS BALLSThe area near my home looked like a wasteland. Overturned buildings, fallen towers, debris. A few shanties littered about. And that’s how I wanted it to look. I built the shanties. I blew up the buildings. I put up the radioactive and biohazard signs. And I installed all the security systems and monitors. The real secret of my home was below ground... | ![]() Chapter 24: Blood, Guts, and Demon SemenThe citadel was vaguely mosque-like, with seven outer minarets shaped like upward-curving tusks. The main building was midnight blue with silver accents, Abraxas’s chosen colors. It was an affront to sanity. The angles seemed off, as if made to give the viewer a headache. |

![]() Chapter 9: METAL IN THEIR ASSES AND GUNS IN THEIR CHESTSJensen took the folder, flipped it open, and spread out a few pages. First, he showed me a painting of Heinrich Kramer and Jacob Sprenger, Inquisitors of the Catholic Church. Authors of the Malleus Maleficarum, the “Hammer of Witches.” I spotted the man in the background of the painting easily enough. Father Grimm... | ![]() Chapter 11: MEET THE DEVILAfter I put on the clothes set out for me—a pair of jeans, my boots, a synth replica of my vintage black Social D t-shirt, and my density coat—I headed toward the study. I walked into the circular-stepped room and it reminded me a lot of Connor MacLeod’s trophy room in Highlander. Only on a grander scale... | ![]() Chapter 19: LET THE BURN IGNITE OLD MEMORIESI took a long pull off the scotch. And then, I started to shudder a little. It was the involuntary shake when you feel on the verge of tears. My throat swelled a bit. I fought it back. Hell. Thinking of leaving my friends over and over. Never having a life or a purpose was weighing on me. God, I felt so alone. I punched the wall of the pod and put my hand over my face to hide my shame. |
![]() Chapter 26: TAKE THE ABUSEKicking the back of his thigh hard, I drove him to the ground then ran the blade across his throat, opening it. And then—then I just simply pulled. A moment or two later and I was rewarded with the sounds of tearing muscle and a wet ripping pop when the demon’s head came off. Blackish blood spurted as its heart went through motions of life before giving out. I was coated in blood, and I didn’t give a shit. | ![]() Chapter 27: NEITHER LIVING NOR DEAD“It is hard to explain. Certain factors need to be in place for this rite to work. Previously in Whitechapel, the whores never quite perfected it. There is a unique state of being the victim is required to be in.” “Neither living nor dead,” I said in a quiet whisper. “Yes. Exactly. How did you know?” I lit a smoke and nodded at the machines. | ![]() Chapter 12: TO TALK TO SOME GODSAs if on cue, Grimm, not looking at Maz, raised his hand and made a gesture. Maz began to tremble. Small sobs came from him, and he began to go weak in his knees. It was disgusting. Grimm stepped up to him. “Answer my questions, Hell spawn.” |
![]() Chapter 14: THE RIDERS OF ROHAN MEET DELTA FORCE“Get your fucking hand off of me or you are going to pull back a stump.” | ![]() Chapter34: LAZARUS'S DEAD DICKRicky’s glasses slipped a little. Instead of eyes, he had orbs of pure white light. Ricky turned his head toward me, looked at me, and smiled. He turned his head back to the corpse of Grimm, and the white orbs began to glow brighter. Pure liquid light rolled languidly down from Ricky’s eyes along his arms and settled on Grimm. Grimm’s corpse began to glow. “I need time, Salem,” Ricky said. | ![]() Chapter 16: LIGHTNING MIXED WITH STEROID ORGASMThe crouched Father Grimm snapped his head up suddenly, his eyes, mouth, and hands now glowing neon green. He slammed his fist into the earth up to his elbow. The green energy flowed through the ground visibly, like blood through veins. The energy spread across the graveyard. A silent scream was on Grimm’s mouth. His face contorted in pain. One word eventually came out. “RISE!” And the dead rose. |

AWARD-WINNING FICTION
ON BITS, BYTES & BRAWLERS
ROLE: Author
This short story about a segregated military unit of cyborgs won an
Honorable Mention in L. Ron Hubbard's Writers of the Future contest.
A short excerpt...
Camp Rezek, 207th Cyber Division—1800Z
Her eyes were covered in a silver shimmer as lines of code and passwords scrolled past like data glistening behind tiny computer screens.
“Disgusting.” Major Torres’s voice sounded like a glitched distortion to Jana’s ears.
She found his face even less amiable with his wrinkled nose and his upper lip curled in distaste while he watched her process the string of incoming feeds. The data in her eyes faded when she blinked. “You were saying, Sir?” she asked, keeping a straight face. She knew her indifference about his opinion of her would piss him off even more, and she reveled in it. It was how she kept up the status quo between his uncensored racism and her superiority in the field. It was her way of reminding him who and what she was; Special Operative Bartíkova of SAD, the Segregated Augmentation Division. To Torres, though, she knew she was little more than a dog with a microchip shoved into her brain.
“Report,” Torres barked. He straightened and folded his hands together behind his back, pushing his chest forward.
Bartíkova stood and stretched, using her thin, pale fingers to massage her neck. “I feel a little strained at the moment, Sir. Could I have some water?” Her face, soft and round, would have made a pretty feature if it hadn’t been framed by thin scars and clusters of tiny LED’s. She smiled as she watched Major Torres’s jaw grind. Oh, how she loved to make him beg for it.
The meaning of cyber warfare had changed since the introduction of people like Jana Bartíkova. The successful integration of neural implants, data transmitters, and receivers within the human cerebral cortex had led to an entire breed of people who could hack or even blow up computers with the blink of an eye. It had become the reason why people like Torres felt a constant need to remind her that she was a disgrace to humanity, a concoction of mad sciences given life by the grace of corporate gods.

AGENTED FICTION
BONDS OF BLOOD & SILVER
ROLE: Author
(Fantasy Novel, Agented by Charlie Serabian, Global Lion Management)
When two Kings harvest their people in pursuit of immortality, thousands of innocents pray to their Gods for help. However, being the only god left, Skjall stands powerless with divinity balancing on the brink of extinction...
Synopsis
SKJALL is a centuries-old Cray; a shapeshifter with supernatural abilities. He is the last living descendant of the gods, therefore vulnerable to the Lord Regent’s dark magic that can enslave his soul. Because of this legacy, Skjall has been hiding for years, trying to stay off the grid and let time do its job to make his existence but a forgotten memory. However, when his arrow accidentally hits VESTA, daughter of the King of Yggra, his time of hiding from the dark magic is over, and he must put his secret existence at risk to save the Princess of the North.
When Skjall is forced to use his divine powers to save Vesta from an attack of nearby soldiers while he tries to patch her up, a local parliament of owl-shifting witches is not the only one who picks up on his presence. AVIX, Lord Regent of Soulhirst City, has been looking for Skjall since he escaped his magical fetters fifty years ago, and now he finally knows where to find him. He sends out his best man: HJALMAR, an alchemically mutated commander, to find Skjall and bring him in.
Skjall sets off to take Vesta home as he cannot bear the guilt of shooting down an innocent person. He finds both company and support in the presence of his brother OSZKAR and two witches, SABLE and STRIX. However, traveling up North isn’t without any danger, as there are now half-breed, mutated soldiers in service of the Lord Regent on the lookout for Skjall. Soon, he finds that Oszkar’s fighting skills and the witches’ magical powers are a true necessity for Vesta’s survival, as much as his own.
Having reached Yggra after several days and several attempts on their lives, Skjall reveals he is, in fact, the last surviving god. He can no longer hide this secret when the one thing that can undo his power appears in the hands of the King: amber. Strix surmises that one of the witches in the royal court must have committed treason, by selling the secrets of the amber to the Lord Regent himself. When she discovers that it was Vesta who betrayed Skjall, she urges him to take action. Oszkar suggests to confront the King and demand answers, but when even the King appears to be involved in the plan to take down the last of the gods, Skjall and his company have no other option than to flee farther North.
Hiding inside an ancient and deserted fortress, Skjall understands that he is caught between two courts that seek to kill him in order to claim his divine powers. He regrets to admit that the feelings he has developed for Strix are no longer a priority compared to the choices he has to make; kill the King, destroy the Lord Regent, or try to play them out against each other. He decides that the best thing to do is to confront the Lord Regent. This way, the King of Yggra is forced to take action, because Skjall’s enslavement would mean the death of his court. Thus, Skjall hopes the two will meet and eventually kill each other.
Skjall sets up a distraction to sneak out of the fortress and run for the city without anyone following him, as he doesn't want anyone else getting hurt. Once in Soulhirst City, he finds himself locked in a dungeon where Avix tortures him into insanity to pave the path to slavery—a choice the witches are far from happy to accept. Especially Strix, who now fights for more than just Skjall’s safety… she fights for his love and is willing to risk her own life in order to set him free. Together with Sable, she sneaks into Soulhirst City to destroy the castle Skjall is held prisoner in.
All tracks now lead to Avix, as the King of Yggra, the witches, as well as the mutated soldiers make their way to the city. With all parties present, war is bound to devour the land. The witches manage to set Skjall free and destroy the castle, thus shattering the city to pieces. Skjall sees a chance to set Avix up against the King of Yggra, and an army of mutants is now torn between following Skjall as their true god or their alchemist creator. Hjalmar, the mutant commander initially sent to bring in Skjall, decides to fight for what is right, rather than fight for what is madness. He rallies his army to stand up and rise against the Lord Regent, and Skjall finds himself supported by a new friend and ally.
Despite the torture and Skjall’s delirium, the Lord Regent is finished off by the King of Yggra, who is then destroyed by Skjall when he releases his divine powers. This allows him to step up as the rightful, High King of the Cray. But in the aftermath of the battle, Skjall finds his brother on the brink of death, and he begs the ancient forces to spare his life. Oszkar makes a recovery, and when Skjall summons his own court to initiate a new King’s Guard, he finds that brotherhood, love, and friendship are all that make a man a king. A kiss seals his fate with Strix as his Queen by his side.
